Learning Curves and Context Switching
A significant part of my current role as Remover of Mystery is learning. A lot of learning. At present I’m on the steep end of these learning curves:
- Off-site disaster recovery,
- Storage Area Networks (SANs)*,
- Server virtualisation*,
- Enterprise architecture,
- Enterprise architecture management tools*,
- Business intelligence tools*, and
- Two way database replication.
(* Likely to result in product selection.)
It’s all interesting stuff, and thankfully there are a few people who can help me out, but the context switching is just insane. If you’ve been in a similar situation I’d love to hear how you managed.
