  1. Why the change from Wordpress to Textpattern?

All appears OK from this end so far.

  2. While I was running this site on WordPress I was also running other sites using Textpattern. There are several reasons why I migrated to Textpattern:

    1. Fewer upgrades. WordPress upgrades are regular events, and they can break plug-ins. Just keeping somewhere near up to date was a hassle.

    2. I’ve observed more security issues with Wordpress, not that that in itself means it is less secure than Textpattern. (Just before the upgrade someone managed to register themselves as a bogus user even though I had user registration turned off.)

    3. I prefer the Textpattern templating system.

    4. Textpattern is lightweight, not trying to be everything to everyone, and does pretty much what I need.

There are a few downsides to using Textpattern.

    1. Not as fast as Wordpress with caching.

    2. There are a few additional features I’d like to have, but they are not critical.
